ABOUT D&W

D & W LOUNGE owner picture_edited_edited

W stands for Weyel

Keith Weyel is a second-generation bar owner, son of the man who once ran another nearby dive—the Harrisburg Country Club.

That “country club” name is tongue-in-cheek, a blue-collar east Houston mockery of snooty west Houston.

Keith's all about his customers, making sure everyone is having a good time and goes all out to do it.

Our Story

Located near the cross streets of Milby and McKinney Street in the heart of Eastwood, this beloved neighborhood dive has been a part of the community since opening its doors as a convenience store in the ’40s.

Formerly known as D&D, the Eastwood fixture was purchased in 2009 and converted into the bar Houstonians know and love today.

Folks can stop inside the low-lit lounge to grab a beer or glass of wine while taking in the eclectic decorations which include, taxidermy, endless neon, candelabras, fish tanks, a jukebox and more.

And if you’re looking for a breezier vibe, be sure to hit the bar’s cozy outdoor, front patio, which is perfect for escaping the sounds of the jukebox and bustling interior to catch up with a friend.

Situated deep in Houston's East End, the D&W Lounge is a true dive bar safely tucked away from any sort of hustle or bustle. It relies on nothing but familiarity and salt-of-the-Earth charisma to get by, and does so in extraordinary fashion.

The building has been around since the '40s, with little more having been changed than the light bulbs. One of the things that helps this particular space rise above the hangout flotsam though is its crowd.

We love the lava lamps, deer heads, and random pictures dotting the tables and walls. It's hard to not steal something on the way out.

Carson, a lifelong Eastwood neighborhood resident, remembers coming to the store as a child. “We’d walk over to buy cokes and pickles,” she says. “People would be drinking beers and sipping coffee. It was like a community center.”
